Bissara – Traditional Moroccan Fava Bean Soup

Must Try

Bissara, also known as Bessara, is a classic Moroccan dish made from dried split fava beans, olive oil, garlic, and aromatic spices.
It can be enjoyed as a thick dip or a smooth soup, making it versatile for breakfast, dinner, or anytime in between.

This humble yet satisfying dish is especially popular in northern Morocco, often served with crusty Moroccan bread and a glass of mint tea.
Generous garnishes of extra virgin olive oil, cumin, and cayenne or harissa instantly elevate the simple bean puree into a flavorful, comforting meal.
